Dr. Kim Turner, interim director of the Fulton County Health and Wellness Department, says the 58-year-old man lives in the south end of the county.
"He was treated successfully and released from the hospital," says she.
Turner says while it is the first human case, they're found infected mosquitoes through testing all over the county.
"It's in Buckhead... it's in south Fulton, it's in central downtown Atlanta... it's out there," she says.
While Fulton County reported nine cases last year, there were more than 50 cases across the state with one death according to the Georgia Department of Health.
Turner says since we're now in the season for West Nile, they're encouraging people to limit outdoor activities in the early morning and evening hours, wear long sleeves, and use mosquito repellent with DEET.
