| (WSB Radio) The city of East Point may be facing one of the metro area's worst water shortages. Documents given to City Council members in East Point indicate the city's water supply may be down to about 37 days. The city gets it's water from Sweetwater Creek and that creek is almost dry and the storage reservoir is getting very low. Residents like Erica Jones tell Channel Two Action news they have never had to think about a water shortage. "When you think about things leaving water is the last. You might worry about food. You might worry about home, but I never concern myself with water until now." East Point officials declined to discuss the city's water supply with reporters, but the documents given to Council Members indicate East Point had asked the City of Atlanta to supply 10 million gallons a day and the East Point was told the current crisis in Atlanta might prevent that from happening. Meanwhile the city of East Point has enacted new restrictions on water use Tuesday. In addition to a ban on all outdoor residential water usage, the City has enforced increased conservation measures encouraging residents to conserve water internally. Nearly 80 percent of residential water usage is actually interior usage. And they are now requiring businesses to cut back by 25 percent.
