Water Meeting This Week
(WSB Radio) -- The governors of Georgia, Alabama and Florida take their fight over water to the nation's capital this week.

On Thursday, Sonny Perdue, Bob Riley and Charlie Crist will meet in Washington DC with White House representatives and lawmakers from all three states.

Governor Perdue tells Channel 2 Action News he is confident President Bush will not allow the people of Georgia and metro Atlanta to give out of drinking water.

Perdue has asked Mr. Bush to suspend federal fish and wildlife regulations that allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to release large amounts of water from lakes Lanier and Allatoona downstream.

Fearing economic and environmental losses, Riley and Crist have asked the president to deny Georgia's request.
