‘Freedom Fighter Bandit’ evades FBI

‘Freedom Fighter Bandit’ evades FBI The woman on bank surveillance video is believed to be connected to several metro Atlanta bank robberies, the FBI said Friday.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for a female serial bank robber, and her male accomplice, connected to at least four robberies and attempted robberies over a two-week period last month in metro Atlanta.

She claims to be robbing banks for a social cause; she told one teller that she was robbing the bank “for the people”.

“Hence the nickname ‘Freedom Fighter Bandit’,” FBI Special Agent, Stephen Emmett tells WSB.

Emmett says the woman and male accomplice covered several banks over just a two-week period last month. During one incident, the pair told a teller at Bank of the Ozarks they had a bomb and would blow it up.

“The amount of robberies in the short time distance is what’s concerning us,” he adds.

On Oct. 30, the female suspect attempted to rob the Wells Fargo bank, located at 6063 Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain. The robber displayed to the victim teller a “demand” note that was on her cell phone. When the robber was denied the money, she left the bank .

On the same day, just an hour later, she went into the Associated Credit Union, located at 5032 Old Grant Road in Ellenwood, and again demanded money. This time the robber was provided an undisclosed amount of money.

She also hit Georgia's Own Credit Union in Grayson, Georgia on Nov. 3. That time, her male accomplice joined in the robbery. The two then went to Douglasville and robbed a bank.

“We’re going to see her again; we’re going to see this other individual again,” Emmett says.

The female robber is described as a black female, late 20’s to mid-30’s in age, approximately 5’7” in height, slender build, long black hair, wearing a black coat, black wool cap, black sunglasses, black gloves, black boots, and a dark colored messenger bag.

Witnesses described the robbers’ vehicle as being either a white Ford minivan with cement or gray paint on the side or a white Chevrolet Suburban.

Anyone with information regarding these individuals should contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-8477.
