  • You just don't get it do you..
    There is currently an embedded 22% tax on everything that we buy. The FAIR TAX will eliminate this tax and replace it with the 23%. Under the fair tax the price stays the same. You won't get less of it. You will get the same. You will also be making more $$ because you wont have to pay federal taxes and payroll taxes. A person making $40K will keep the $10,000 that the government takes from him. Now that's a stimulus package for the economy!!!

  • Taxing Consumption vs. Wealth
    hair9000 has hit it on the head. If you do get less consumption, you get more savings which means MORE INVESTMENT, which means more jobs, more wealth and more purchases... i.e. more consumption. Taxing wages has no such virtuous cycle.

    If you tax consumption, you get less spending. If you tax wages...you get less WORK! The Fairtax would encourage productivity and savings. Americans _need_ to save more. Makes sense to me.
