What others are saying

  • Assumptions
What do you expect from Jay Bookman who works for the A Jazera Constitution, All he knows is that he hasn't read the book and that he and his co-workers at the AJC obviously know more than anybody else how to run the Gov't like their newspaper-into the ground.
When will they learn that you can't run a business or the gov't with Emotion!!
This from a trade union member, haha
  • assumptions
Neal, LET Jay Bookman assume right. IT SIMPLY DOESN'T MATTER. Right now 23% of my pay is gone before I receive my paycheck. To that, I have to add an additional 6% in sales tax when I make a purchases. So there ... that's the 29% Jay Bookman is referring to. ALL ELSE being equal, with the Fair Tax, I STILL get rid of the IRS requirements, don't have to pay any type of investment taxes, ALL consumers ( tourists, illegal immigrants, drug dealers, "the evil wealthy," day laboreres, etc ) would be paying the tax, thus, contributing to OUR system. So, in essence, I would not see a change, and I suspect I would most likely see an increase in the money I get to keep. NOT TO MENTION the provision for the monthly rebate.......
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH THAT Jay ?????
  • FAIR TAX
Gentlemen (you too Neal). Good try, but the party is over. Your fair tax is great, but it will never pass a Democratic Congress or Mr. Obama. End of story. So, put it back on the shelf and wait 8 year. Hopefully, the Republican Party will come up with a young, intelligent standard bearer who knows how to speak.

  • Fair Tax and education
As long as there are folks in this country who want "a free ride" and liberals want these folks to vote for them, there will be no fair tax. The word "fair" is a word that gets thrown out at the git-go.
EDUCATION: I am so sick and tired of throwing money at our education problems, and blaming teachers for the fact our children are not learning. Up until 1963 when I graduated from high school, we had a darn good educational system. Teachers had more students, less money, less help, less time off (never heard of teacher work days when school was out-- they worked every day) and graded papers and prepared report cards at night all for less pay. There were no drugs or riots nor guns and teachers afraid of students. They had paddles and they used them. We learned back then. Why don't some rocket scientist check it out and determine when our educational problems began and just maybe the problem will slap you in the face. We cannot fix the problem until we identify it. In throwing more money at it, is it not possible we are "feeding" the problem. Identifying the problems, however, may just require someone having the intestinal fortitude enough to "call a spade, a spade" and letting the chips fall where they may. I doubt that will ever happen.
  • 23 and 30 percent
Why do the sceptics dwell so long on what the number is. The number is whatever it has to be to match the current cost of the federal government, based on the current retail sales. High or low doesn't matter, it just has to be right.
  • fair tax
what so hard to understand? You spend a dollar you pay .23 cents tax. Evasion will be next to impossible, you get all your pay check, and you decide how much taxes you want to believe. Everyone pays... illegals, vistors, drug dealers, day laborers, everyone who spends contributes. Not like now where the top 50% carry the rest of the low income scum. Keep it simple, stupid.
