ATLANTA — Prominent actress, entrepreneur, and social influencer Reginae Carter is passionate about paving her own lane in the film, entertainment and business industries.

The 26-year-old dynamic actress is excited for fans to see the projects she has been working on, including season 2 of her show “Toya and Reginae,” where she stars alongside her mother, Toya Johnson-Rushing.

Carter, who is also the daughter of hip-hop icon Lil Wayne, moved to Atlanta several years ago. Season 1 of Toya and Reginae follows her living in Atlanta before making the decision to move to Los Angeles.

The New Orleans native first burst on the scene in the film and television industry over a decade ago.

“My mother and I have always been doing family shows. We always had that dynamic where we are always real and raw,” Carter said.

She recalled when the idea for telling her own story in a unique way first began.

“We were always on the blogs and always out there. Everybody was telling our stories for us,” she continued. “We finally had the opportunity to tell our own stories in our own life how it really is going on without the blogs posting it.”

Carter says We TV and ALLBLK gave her “a great opportunity.”

One of the qualities that makes the show great is its relatability.

“Reality TV and acting are totally different,” Carter said. “I love how with my mom and I, everything is real, raw and uncut. There are real life things that happen and we want to show everybody because we feel that its relatable. That’s literally what we do it for. To show people we’re not perfect. We all bleed the same, and we all live the same 24 hours. When you’re in the limelight and in the industry, people forget that.”

While Carter has appeared in several hit reality television series, in music and in films, she says there is more to her than what most people see on TV.

“I am the most passionate person that you’ll ever meet. I’m the sweetest person, but I feel that I’m so sweet that I keep a guard up. I’m a little bit feisty because you won’t eat off my sweets. I have to keep myself guarded because people do hurt you, people will hurt you, and they use and abuse you. All of that has happened to me before, which makes me the person that I am now. I’m still loving. I’ll still give you the shirt off my back, but I know how to figure out who to give my love to.”

Carter says she has been working to help her family and friends feel comfortable on the show.

“My mom and I have been on reality TV for 10+ years, so we know the ins and the outs of everything,” Carter said. “Bringing on our family and friends is the balance of telling them to be yourself and you don’t have to do too much. It’s about getting everyone on board and having everybody feel comfortable. We always want everybody to be comfortable, real and raw because we’re not shooting a movie or a TV series, we’re shooting a reality show.”

One thing that Carter says fans can look forward to in season 2 of Toya and Reginae is change.

“You’re going to see a lot of change in all of us,” she said. “You’re going to see a lot of new characters. I’m going to meet a lot of family members that I’ve never met. There are a lot of new beginnings to it. You’re going to see a lot of stuff that you can relate to also because family is family.”

In addition to starring in season 2 of Toya and Reginae, Carter has been busy filming new projects and working on her new fashion line Tom Girl and fitness line I FIT IN.

Carter has starred in the hit reality TV series Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, Terror Lake Drive, I Got a Story to Tell, Nothing Even Matters, Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta, Social Society, and more.

“I’ve had my fitness line for two years. I’m about to drop some new things,” she said. “I’m still on YouTube. I’m also working on a talk show. Stay tuned, I’ve got a lot of fun things coming. I’m still acting and still auditioning.”

Carter also starred in the 2024 thriller Nothing Even Matters which is available to stream on Peacock.

“I’m ready for people to see me working too. I want you to look at me working on my craft and doing what I love to do which is act,” Carter said.

Carter has her own YouTube channel and has hundreds of thousands of subscribers and viral videos. She also has millions of followers on her social media pages, including Instagram and X formerly known as Twitter.

In 2009, Carter helped form the OMG Girlz pop group, which also featured Zonnique Pullins, Bahja Rodriguez, Lourdes Rodriguez, and Breaunna Womack.

In September 2024, Carter joined Georgia-based Silence the Shame organization for a college empowerment summit at Morehouse College to provide students and community members with mental health resources.

“I love any experience where I get to encourage or inspire someone,” she said. “I’m very honest and up front. Things aren’t perfect, no matter how much money you have. People go through things.”

Carter has some encouraging words for anyone chasing after their dreams.

“Never give up,” she concluded. “Never let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do. Don’t let anyone make you feel discouraged. Also, work on what you want to do and work on your craft. Always know that somebody could do this, but nobody can do it like you.”
