Boy, 10, helps Gwinnett police catch home invader

Gwinnett County police say two men broke into a Lawrenceville home while a child was inside by himself.

The child was able to hide under a bed and call 9-1-1 while the thieves raided the place.

Christopher King, 10, says he was home alone for about 20 minutes when he heard a knock on the front door.  The boy tells Channel 2 Action News he had his cell phone in his hand when the thieves broke into the home.

"I ran into my brother's room and I went under his bed and called 911," said King.

"Somebody is breaking into my house and I am the only kid at home," King told the 911 operator.

King says he tried to stay calm even when the men headed upstairs toward the room he was hiding in.

"I could have touched their feet.  Tears started coming down my eyes and then that's when I was like no, Chris, I can't cry, something could happen very bad," he said.

The operator told the child to just be quiet and then King says one of the burglars said the police had arrived.

Police have arrested 19-year-old D’Andrew Green, but are looking for a second suspect.
