Cartersville police: Man shot by guy who took daughter to buy drugs

An angry father is in the hospital after he tried to take the law into his own hands.

Tony Collum was so upset with a man he claimed took his daughter with him to buy drugs. Cartersville Police say Collum went to the man’s home at 110 Maple Drive to confront him.

"During that confrontation, the young man's father, Mark Alan Harris, and the victim, Mr. Tony Collum, got into an altercation.  At one point, Mr. Collum was shot, it appears to be three times by a .32 caliber handgun," said Lt. Mark Camp.

Collum was taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.  Harris was arrested and taken into custody.  Two others were detained for questioning.

Camp says Collum should've called police instead.

"I would say they probably should've called us.  But that's always hindsight looking back is always better," said Camp.
