LILBURN, Ga. — Four brazen thieves are on the run after a smash-and-grab at a gaming store in Lilburn.

Lilburn Senior Police Officer Veronica Arnold says the burglary happened in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday, Christmas Eve. A masked driver steered a stolen Kia through the barred windows of a GameStop at the 4100 block of Lawrenceville Highway.

SPO Arnold says it was clearly not spur-of-the-moment.

“They had a getaway vehicle, also,” says Arnold.  “The person that drove the vehicle into the store got out, and three more suspects joined him and they began taking a bunch of stuff from the GameStop.”

Video shows the car plow into the store, and the masked thieves pick their way over the mess to begin tucking gaming consoles under their arms and running outside to the second car.

They were also wearing gloves as they hauled armfuls of new and pre-owned merchandise off the shelves.

“They’re seen running around for approximately two minutes, taking whatever they can,” says Arnold.

Police say the stolen items all have serial numbers logged. Investigators are also processing the stolen vehicle for forensic evidence which might help lead them to the thieves.

The criminals took advantage of the destruction to go into the shipping store next door and pick through it. Inventory tallies are still being taken to find out what might have been taken from there as well as what was stolen from the gaming store.

SPO Arnold says they are working to discover if reports of another GameStop hit in a different part of Gwinnett County days ago might be connected.

“Obviously, this is concerning,” she says. “Luckily nobody was in there. The store was vacant at the time, so that’s good. Things can be replaced. People can’t.”
