Student arrested after hiding gun, ammunition in a metro Atlanta high school bathroom

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — A high school student was arrested and faces charges after being accused of hiding a weapon from a shooting.

On Wednesday, at 7:30 a.m. Cartersville police responded to a report of shots fired at the Ivy Glen Apartments on Ridge Row Drive.

According to police, a Cartersville High School student is accused of hiding a gun that he used in the shooting at the Ivy Glen Apartments.

Officers found a BMW that had damage from the shooting.

Police say the student went to Cartersville High School with the gun after the shooting and hid two guns and ammunition in a school bathroom.

The student faces multiple charges, including carrying a weapon in a school safety zone, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless conduct, and carrying a weapon in a school safety zone.

He was released to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

This comes a week after a student was arrested for bringing a gun to Apalachee High School.
