JACKSON, Ga. — It took several hours of searching the wooded areas near a busy Jackson grocery store, but Butts County Sheriff’s Deputies found the man they say was responsible for a murder.

Deputies say early Tuesday evening, 22-year old Justin Tyler Davenport shot his step father, 47-year old Terry Don Crawford at the Ingles grocery store on 3rd street in Jackson just after 6 p.m. They say after the shooting, Davenport ran away from the scene and towards a heavily wooded area near the store.
The Sheriff’s Office put out several BOLO warnings to area residents while the searched for Davenport who they said was “armed and dangerous”.

Several hours later, around midnight, they found Davenport near the wooded area, not far from where the shooting happened.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Butts County Jail. According to deputies and the GBI, who is assisting with the investigation, Davenport is charged with murder.
