Gov. Kemp, state’s top health official update Georgia’s fight against COVID-19

Governor Brian Kemp and the state’s top health officials have given an update on Georgia’s fight against COVID-19.

Kemp, along with Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey, gathered at 11 a.m. for a news conference.

There have been 1,213,586 cases of COVID-19 in Georgia, and there is currently a 10.6% positive rate. At least 22,122 people have died. The rolling 7-day average of new cases is 3,229.9. The rolling 7-day average is 10.2% positive.

Pfizer booster shots are available for people 65 and up, people with underlying health conditions and frontline workers starting Sept. 27. Only people who have had the Pfizer shot are eligible.

So far, the state has administered more than 10,400,000 doses.
