FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — A community is mourning the death of a 14-year-old Floyd County girl who died in an ATV accident last week.

On the afternoon of May 26, Kyleigh Rampley of Rome was critically injured after the ATV she was driving left the roadway and overturned after riding up a wire.

Lampley was ejected and taken to a hospital where she died.

An 8-year-old was also injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Neither Rampley or the 8-year-old involved was using their seatbelts during the time of the crash, police say.

Alabama officials said they are going to continue to investigate.

Rampley’s classmates celebrated her life with a balloon release Tuesday night.

“I’m going to miss her contagious smile, fiery spirit, her desire to make everyone laugh but most of all I’m going to miss the encouragement she provided me daily to be the best person that I could be,” her mother, Mallory Rampley, wrote on Facebook.

Rampley said Kyleigh was baptized two weeks before her death.

“As a parent there is no greater joy than watching your child trust in Jesus and it was such a gift to me that I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life, until I’m reunited with my baby again,” Ramply wrote.
