A Georgia teen died Friday after an accident at a local rock quarry.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the Vulcan Materials Rock Quarry around 1:12 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a 16-year-old pinned under a piece of machinery.
Deputies said it appeared the machinery was in operation when it turned over on top of the teen.
Deputies did not release the teen’s name but said he was from Jefferson County. They also did not say if the teen was an employee at the quarry or if he walked onto the property.
No other details have been released since Friday.
The sheriff’s office says OHSA was called on Friday and the investigation is ongoing.
