All-clear given at Kennesaw State Marietta campus after armed suspect scare

MARIETTA, Ga. — Kennesaw State University issued a shelter-in-place order for its Marietta campus late Friday night after the university said a possible armed suspect was on campus.

The order went out right before 10:15 p.m. telling students to shelter indoors immediately due to a campus emergency.

About 20 minutes later, the campus emergency management tweeted that a suspect running from police was on campus and it was unclear if that person was armed.

By 11 p.m., the university gave the all-clear.

Cobb County police said they were conducting a traffic stop and the driver fled on foot toward the Marietta campus. Police said the driver was arrested and the alert is over.
