ATLANTA — After a winter storm caused terrible road conditions, crashes and travel nightmares for Georgians this week, all metro Atlanta schools are reopening on Friday morning.
Griffin-Spalding schools are expected to reopen on a one-hour delay.
All after school activities will also resume as scheduled.
The winter storm caused snowy and icy roads, which led to many motorists being stalled and having to abandon their cars. Others ran out of gas and had to walk to their destinations.
More than 1,800 emergency calls and nearly 600 car crashes were reported in Gwinnett County after snow and ice blanketed the area in an 18-hour span, Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Juan Madiedo said.
The winter storm also caused a delay in pay checks being sent on time to around 6,000 school employees in Henry County.
