Athens-Clarke Co Police search for driver in vehicle vs pedestrian fatality

Athens-Clarke County Police were, at last report, still trying to find the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed a University of Georgia student. Knox Whiten was 21 years old, from Toccoa. The wreck happened in the early morning hours Sunday on the Highway 10 Loop near North Chase Street in Athens.

On March 21, 2021 the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of the GA Outer 10 Loop near Chase Street. The pedestrian, Knox Whiten , 21, of Toccoa GA, was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. Knox died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The crash investigation is ongoing.
