(COBB COUNTY, Ga.) — In a bombastic set of posts to social media, the Atlanta Braves revealed the new alternative designs that they’ll don for special occasions in the 2023 season.
Nike’s City Connect jerseys will be worn every Saturday home game this year, kicking off with an upcoming game versus the Padres on April 8. The game will coincide with the 49th anniversary of Hank Aaron’s record-breaking 715th home run.
According to the MLB’s Mark Bowman, Nike launched the City Connect program in 2021 to give teams a new way to connect with their fanbases and home cities. The series explores the personalities, values, and customs which make each team unique.
The designs are heavily based on the 1974 jerseys, including references to Aaron’s #44 jersey and 715th home run.
