ATLANTA, GA — According to the Atlanta United homepage, MLS Cup 2021 Champion Ronny Deila is joining the organization as the new head coach.

“Deila brings more than 17 years of head coaching experience across multiple countries and has won a total of six trophies, including four league titles and two domestic cup competitions. The Norwegian manager returns to MLS where he won the MLS Cup with New York City FC in 2021. Welcome to the city of Atlanta, Coach!”

Deila will become the team’s fifth manager. He succeeds Gonzalo Pineda, who was fired in June.
