ATLANTA — An innocent teen and a 3-month old baby died, and three other people were injured in a violent chase and crash Wednesday night along the Downtown Connector in midtown Atlanta.

The Georgia State Patrol said they attempted to pull over a black BMW coupe speeding more than 120 mph along Interstate 75 near Howell Mill Road around 9:30 p.m. The car refused to stop and continued to drive away, narrowly missing other cars and speed through a construction zone, GSP said.

Troopers said the car got off the connector at 17th Street, then continued on the access road crossing 14th Street and then approached 10th Street. That’s where authorities said it crashed into a black Nissan Altima stopped on 10th Street in the left side at a “high rate." The BMW then hit two other cars stopped at 10th Street.

18-year-old Anjanee McClain died immediately after the high performance BMW slammed in the Altima she and family and friends were in.

Her mother says she was full of life, was working and was thriving.

“And I’m so sad that she is gone. I don’t even know how I am going to go on like this. I’m so sad I can’t do this,” Qiana Harlem said before breaking into tears.

Anjanee’s brother was torn up as well. "I’m devastated. That’s my baby sister man, Fred Cain said.

A baby in the center rear seat of the Altima was critically injured and rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, then to Children’s Medical at Egleston.

The family heard even more bad news as Channel 2′s Tom Jones interviewed Anjanee’s father.

“The baby just died. The baby just died,” said family members as they came out of the house.

“So now it’s two deaths. Now you got a baby that’s died now too,” Anjanee’s father said in anger.

Police would not independently confirm the child’s death.

Anjanee’s father says street racing has gotten out of hand in the metro area. He is urging the driver to turn himself in.

“It wouldn’t be a good idea to have me run down on you. So please turn yourself in,” he said.

State troopers are not releasing the driver’s name until they have confirmed his identity. They say surveillance cameras captured him leaving the scene. He is a 25 years old.
