ATLANTA — Police say a woman in her 20s is dead after she was kidnapped from the Chosewood Park area early Friday morning.

Atlanta police said they got a call about a possible kidnapping around 5 a.m. on Burroughs Street. The 911 caller said a woman had been forced into a vehicle.

Police said the kidnapping happened near her home.

Around 6 a.m., police got a report of shots fired in the area of Lakewood Avenue and Terrace Way.

Police found the woman dead around 10 a.m. Police have not released her identity or details on how she was killed.

Friends told Channel 2 Action News that the victim is 27-year-old Mariam Abdulrab, and that she was killed after leaving her job at Revery VR bar.

Investigators say Demarcus Brinkley has been identified as a person of interest and taken into custody in Griffin, Georgia. on traffic charges after a chase.

The Georgia State Patrol said they were called to help Griffin Police and Atlanta Police detectives who were pursuing a possible murder suspect. They said the chase ended when Brinkley hit a car on Hill St. at Quilly St. in Griffin.

Brinkley and the driver of the other car were both injured and flown via LifeFlight to Atlanta Medical Center.

At this time, Atlanta Police say they have not filed any charges related to the kidnapping or murder, but they believe Brinkley may be involved.

“We believe this person detained may be significantly involved in both of these crimes, the kidnapping and the homicide,” APD Assistant Chief Charles Hampton said.
