BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — One person is dead after a drowning in Lake Tobesofkee on Sunday morning.

On Saturday around 1:30 p.m., officials responded to a boating accident near Sandy Beach.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources said a pontoon boat was pulling two tubers when they were thrown from the tube into the water.
As the boat turned around to pickup the tubers in the water, another person on the boat jumped in to help the struggling tubers. While rescuing one of the struggling tubers, the rescuer cut their leg.

The other struggling tuber, a 31-year-old man, went under and was not found.
The search was suspended Saturday evening and resumed Sunday morning.
Officials found the victim early Sunday morning utilizing side scan sonar.

The tubers were not wearing lifejackets at the time of the incident.
The victim has not been identified.
