Braselton beachgoer’s butt bitten by drunk man

A Dacula man has been charged with felony cruelty to children and sexual battery after biting a Braselton beachgoer on the butt. While celebrating the Independence Day holiday with her family at Lake Lanier, numerous witnesses report a man, later identified as 30-year-old Jonathan William Herbert, swam up and bit the 14-year-old girl.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth confirmed Herbert was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

"We do think it is important to point out that Mr. Herbert has no known ties to the victim or her family. He just happened to be at the lake and her and her family happened to be there, as well," Booth added.

Booth could not comment on the extent of the girl's injuries nor did he have any knowledge the girl received medical treatment for her injuries.

Herbert is being held without bond for sexual battery against a child under the age of 16 and felony second-degree cruelty to children. Herbert received a $5,830 bond on charges of public drunkenness and battery.

The case is under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office
