ATLANTA — A man who has been the voice of the Atlanta Braves for nearly 20 years is reportedly leaving the team.
According to a report from The Athletic, Chip Caray will join the St. Louis Cardinals broadcast team this upcoming season.
Caray, who comes from a background of sports broadcasters, is a St. Louis native.
In 2005, Caray joined his father, Skip Caray, broadcasting games for the Atlanta Braves. In 2007, when his father left play-by-play announcing to broadcast on the Braves radio network, Chip Caray became the main play-by-play announcer.
Channel 2′s Karyn Greer spoke with former player and current broadcaster Brian Jordan about Chip leaving.
“Just to watch the way he interacts with players and coaches, his smile everyday will be missed here in Atlanta,” he said.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to Bally Sports and they declined to comment at this time.
