EAST POINT, GA — Atlanta police are investigating a shooting stemming from an earlier car accident that occurred early Wednesday morning.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to an incident at 2008 Campbellton Rd SW and located a male victim who had been shot in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police learned the victim and the shooter had been involved in a car accident earlier in East Point, near the Delowe and Stanton Rd Connector.

Although East Point police were present at the scene of the accident and completed an accident report, an altercation occurred shortly after which resulted in the suspect shooting the victim.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
