ATLANTA — Surveillance video captured the moment a Dodge Charger slammed into a Buckhead pizza restaurant.

Atlanta police say the car crashed into the patio of Sauce Buckhead and damaged the windows, tables, chairs, and structure of the patio on Friday morning.

After the crash, the driver can be seen climbing out of the car and trying to free it from the debris that fell on top of it.

The timestamp on the video shows the crash happened just after 3 a.m.

Police say by the time they arrived shortly after, the driver had already left, but his car was still on the scene.

Investigators say a second video given to them by a witness showed the driver in a green hoodie and gray shorts collecting things from the trunk of the car and running away.

Sauce Buckhead released a statement on Friday that said they would not be closing the restaurant for repairs.

On behalf of the Sauce Buckhead family & staff, we are sadden by the damaged caused to our property early this morning. This unfortunate accident caused significant damage to our newly installed patio dinning area. We are equally as grateful that no one was hurt nor injured in this incident. However the inability to operate at full capacity by servicing customers on our patio, will have a heavy financial impact on our servers, bartenders, and staff. We are asking the great city of Atlanta, and our regular patrons, to continue to support us and our staff as we rebuild and restore what’s been lost in this situation.

We will continue to open for business as we near the holiday season and appreciate all of your support in advance!!! Hope to see you tonight!!

Sauce Buckhead was open on Friday evening with the debris cleaned up and new wooden posts put up to begin repairing the patio.
