CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A Florida man has been arrested after police say he solicited a Carroll County minor for sex with promises to marry her.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department said Wigberto Berrios, a 38-year-old trucker, was sending inappropriate text messages and pictures to a minor.
The girl’s mother alerted investigators.
Investigators found that Berrios was sending pictures of child molestation to the minor and asking her to meet with him as he traveled through the area. The two used Instagram to communicate.

A deputy took over the communication. Berrios told her that he would be traveling through the area on Easter and would like to meet the minor at a Dairy Queen in Tallapoosa to have sex. Berrios promised he would marry the girl and have kids with her one day, and that “this would just be a way for them to get to know each other.”
Police were waiting for Berrios when he got to the Diary Queen. He was taken into custody, where he admitted to exchanging photos with the girl and soliciting sex from her.
He’s been charged with five counts of exploitation, one count of criminal attempted child molestation and one count of criminal attempt to entice a child.
Investigators said they believe he is likely involved in other cases involving minors possibly throughout the country.
Anyone who has been contacted by Berrios and could be a victim is asked to contact Deputy Courtney Short at 770-830-5916 or by email at cshort@carrollsheriff.com.
