COLLEGE PARK, GA — Funeral services are planned Wednesday night for a teen volleyball player who died after practice at a REC center in College Park.

15-year-old Amanda Sylvester was practicing with her team when she collapsed during warm-ups. After a reported long wait for an ambulance, the teen’s mother drove her to the hospital where she died.

Sylvester’s death has raised concerns about delays in emergency response.

Her obituary says the excellent teen athlete was also an accomplished and active student as well as an “instant joy to her parents” and both “the baby and the boss to three older siblings”.

The Celebration of Life is set for 6 p.m. tonight at Decatur’s Rainbow Park Baptist Church.
