Cobb County woman missing in Mexico

A Cobb County nurse is missing while on a vacation in Mexico.

49-year-old Christina Cassin and her husband were on a celebrity equinox ship in Cozumel and were on a diving trip along the Santa Rosa wall on March 28th, when she disappeared.

Scott Turco tells Channel 2 Action News where were diving is famous for its dramatic drop to a depth of more than 400 feet.  He says his wife gave him a signal that she wanted to come back up to the surface.

"I turned to let the dive master know that were going up and when I turned back I didn't see her, so I assumed that had started to go up without me," said Turco.

Cassin's daughter, Krystal Schoonover says her mother has been on nearly a dozen dives before.

"They think she might've gotten just a little too far away from the wall and got pulled in the down current," said Schoonover.

A 72 hour search was conducted and nothing was found.

"I never really expected to get a phone call she went missing.  I mean, I'm still not really sure what to make because I'm still hoping for a miracle," said Schoonover.

A vigil was held at Kennestone Hospital, where she was a nurse manager.

"There was a lot of people who showed up and said how much she had touched their lives.  She was a great grandmother.  She loved her kids and her grandchildren," cried Schoonover.
