Autopsy reports show victims in golf course murder were shot, bound in duct tape

Shooting at Pinetree Country Club The shooting happened on the 10th hole of the course on July 3, 2021.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has obtained the autopsy report in a triple shooting at a Cobb County country club that shows officials have ruled the case a homicide.

The killings happened at the 10th hole at the Pinetree County Club July 4th weekend.

“This guy was clearly on a killing spree. But our investigators noticed it right off,” said Lt. Col. Cliff Kelker with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office in a previous interview.

Cobb sheriff’s deputies are the ones who tracked down the suspect.

A 15-count indictment shows Bryan Rhoden is accused of murder and kidnapping.

One of the victims is Gene Siller. The golf pro was a husband and a father.

“He would want us to celebrate him and do something really good for other people,” Siller’s widow, Ashley Siller, said.

Channel 2′s Chris Jose obtained a copy of the autopsy reports for all three victims through an open records request. The medical examiner officially ruled the manner of death as “homicide.”

Siller’s cause of death was listed as gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

“What hurts me the most is remembering Gene bring his two boys out, five and seven. Beautiful boys,” said Brad Nycum, general manager at Pinetree Country Club.

Cobb police said Siller was at the wrong place at the wrong time on the 10th hole. It’s here where investigators say Rhoden drove a pick-up truck with two people in the bed — bound with tape.

According to the autopsy report, Henry Valdez died from three gunshot wounds to the head. The medical examiner wrote Valdez had “duct tape around his neck” along with his “hand and wrist.”

Another document shows Paul Pierson was shot 9 times, mostly on his back. The medical examiner said Pierson was “bound with duct tape around the head and neck”

Rhoden remains in the Cobb County Jail with no bail. He’s scheduled to appear in court next week.
