Cobb County sheriff’s deputy arrested, charged with child sex crimes

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County sheriff’s deputy has found himself on the opposite side of the law Thursday night.

Deputy Peter Bilardello was arrested by the Cobb County Police Department around 6:30 p.m.

The Marietta man is being charged with sexual exploitation of a child and distribution of child abuse material.

Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens says Bilardello has been placed on unpaid administrative leave while a criminal investigation is completed. He has also directed the Internal Affairs department to conduct a separate investigation.

Details about Bilardello’s alleged crimes are limited at this time.

He is currently being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
