COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators say they have found the body of a missing 18-year-old Kennesaw State University student in a local lake.
Charles Brown’s roommates said they last saw him at the U-Club Student Apartments on Frey Road.
Brown’s family told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington that they are heartbroken. Grover Henry said they were hoping for better news.
“This is shocking to our family,” Henry said.
The Cobb County police dive team found Brown’s body in a lake not far from the student apartments.

The police search began early on Monday when Brown disappeared.
According to Kennesaw police, officers spoke with Brown’s roommates on Dec. 13.
“We started looking. Started calling his phone. Started calling friends,” Henry said.
The roommates told police they last saw Brown around 2 a.m. Monday. They told officers that he was leaving to head to Warner Robins, where he’s from, for an appointment.

Henry said it wasn’t uncommon for the 18-year-old to return home for visits.
“(He’s) the kind of guy you would meet at a YMCA helping kids, doing something for charity, a family man,” Henry said.
Henry told Washington that Brown had no enemies and was not depressed. He spoke with his mother shortly before he disappeared.
“We want to know, ‘Hey why would something like this happen?’ From roommates, from friends from whoever it may be,” Henry said.
The medical examiner’s office will now do an autopsy to determine Brown’s cause of death.
