ATLANTA, GA — With one elementary school already on the chopping block, a group hoping to save their elementary school will make a last-ditch appeal at Tuesday night’s Fulton county school board meeting.

Due to declining attendance and concerns about infrastructure, the board is proposing to close Parklane Elementary in East Point and Spalding Drive Elementary in Sandy Springs. This news sparked the formation of a Save Spalding committee that is hoping to sway the board and keep that school open.

If closed, most Spalding Drive students would attend neighboring Ison Springs Elementary, with some shifting to Heards Ferry.

The Save Spalding committee will be in attendance tonight when board members review the proposal in advance of a final vote.
