Another controversial book is pulled from a Cobb County school, but apparently, it’s due to lack of interest rather than inappropriate content.
Lassiter High School has removed at least one copy of the 19th-century classic “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
It’s part of a mass removal of books and comes just weeks after a 5th grade teacher was fired for reading a book about gender norms to her class.
A school district spokesperson says following a renovation of the media center, over 700 books not often used, including “The Scarlet Letter” were replaced at Lassiter by more current selections.
