Coweta County deputies searching for suspect accused in truck stop shooting death

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Coweta County sheriff’s deputies are in search of a man they said shot and killed the driver of a van in the parking lot of a Pilot Truck Stop late Friday night.

Deputies said they were called out to the truck stop just after 10:45 p.m Friday for the shooting incident. They said two men got into an argument in the parking lot before one man shot the other. After the shooting, investigators said the victim made his way into the store and collapsed onto the floor before he died.

They said the suspect jumped into the victims white van with the words “Assured Conveyance” on the side, sped out of the parking lot, north onto Highway 29 heading towards I-85.

Deputies did not have a physical description of the suspect but they do consider him armed and dangerous. They have not released the name of the victim.

They are asking anyone who has seen or makes contact with the suspect or the vehicle to call them immediately at 770-253-1502. They said witnesses who want to remain anonymous can make tips by utilizing the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office phone app.
