Deadly crash on East-West Connector in Austell under investigation

AUSTELL, Ga. — Police in Cobb County are investigating a deadly crash that happened early on Tuesday morning.

Police say the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. on the East-West Connector at the intersection with Felton Hill Road, according to WSBTV.

Police said a driver in a white 2015 Maserati M157 was traveling westbound when the driver failed to stay in their lane and entered a dedicated right turn lane on Felton Hill Road.

Police say the driver struck a traffic light pole and the signal control box before coming to an uncontrolled stop facing northeast, with the traffic signal pole in its center.

The driver was thrown from and trapped under the vehicle, according to CCPD and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The identity of the victim was not released.
