DeKalb County's newest civil grand jury empaneled to investigate police-involved shootings meets again today.

District Attorney Robert James says the county began the policy of having citizens review cases for civil inspection in the spring.

He says it's important to have another layer of investigations in police-involved shootings which already include the GBI as well as his own office.

"After they listen to the evidence, see video tapes, listen to witnesses testify, they make a decision on what recommendation they're going to give us," James tells WSB's Sandra Parrish.

Based on the totality of the information, he would then decide whether to take the case to a criminal grand jury.

Members of the civil grand jury were educated on the law and police procedures dealing with use of force earlier this week. Faith-based organizations participated in the same training on Wednesday.

One high profile-case James plans to bring before the jury for review involves the fatal shooting of Anthony Hill who was unarmed and naked at the time he was shot by DeKalb Police in March.
