ATLANTA — Some North Druid Hills residents say a county construction project is making it impossible to get in and out of their neighborhood, according to WSBTV.
After Christmas, the construction equipment and crews will return to North Druid Hills Road.
Nearby residents say it has been challenging exiting or entering their neighborhood due to the construction.
“It took me a little over an hour to get from the Greek Orthodox Church on Clairmont Road to get to my house which is two miles away,” Leonard said.
The construction is a part of the county’s watershed project to repair a leaking water main. Construction on the leak started in October. Drivers say this project has reduced North Druid Hills Road from four lanes to two.
“The construction is due to a water leak that’s been going on North Druid Hills for two years, and last year it froze and caused half a dozen wrecks,” Leonard said.
Leonard says the county told homeowners it would provide resources to help homeowners get in and out of their neighborhoods.
“They were going to put somebody up there, but he doesn’t do anything. He’s on his phone,” Leonard said.
DeKalb County officials say they are aware of the residents’ concerns and are looking into this matter.
