2 dead, 2 injured in early morning crash on I-285 in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Interstate 285 in DeKalb County has reopened nearly 5 hours after a deadly crash blocked all lanes.

The crash happened around 3:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes at the Bouldercrest Road exit.

According to DeKalb County police, a car driven by a man crashed into another car from behind. Three people were in the car that was hit, and two of those people, both women, were killed. The third person, a passenger, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver who caused the crash was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending against the driver but investigators said speed may have been a factor in the crash.
