DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Lanes on Candler Road in DeKalb County shut down for hours Saturday as police investigated a deadly crash involving a car and MARTA bus.
The crash happened Saturday morning around 6 a.m. on Candler Road southbound. A MARTA spokesperson confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that the driver of the car died in the crash and a bus driver was injured.
MARTA said seven passengers were on board, but they were not hurt.
DeKalb County police said the driver of a Toyota Camry exited the I-20 ramp at Candler Road and ran the red light. The driver hit the front end of the MARTA bus, which sent the car across the intersection and into a guardrail.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the bus driver was taken to a local hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
