Airlines are making preparations for the winter storm expected to impact Atlanta and other parts of the south.

Atlanta-based Delta Airlines is issuing a waiver which allows travelers to change flights ahead of the storm. It applies to flights Friday or Saturday, to, from, or through Atlanta.

It also includes airports in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Southwest, the second largest carrier at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, is also issuing a waiver.

Officials at the Atlanta airport are encouraging travelers to stay in touch with their airline for updates on delays and cancellations.
