The Federal Aviation Administration has acknowledged the incident and said that it will launch an investigation into the potential causes.
Delta was able to board the passengers onto a separate plane, and fly them safely to Los Angeles, arriving Tuesday night.
The company responded shortly after the diversion on Tuesday, saying its crew followed the proper procedures in this instance. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew. That’s why our flight crew followed procedures to safely divert today’s flight 2846 to Albuquerque. Delta teams are working to get our customers on their way later this afternoon and we apologize for the delay in their travel plans.”
