Doctor who operates pain management clinics in Georgia reaches settlement over medical fraud claims

ATLANTA, GA — A doctor who operates pain management clinics in Atlanta and Blue Ridge and his medical practice reaches a settlement with the federal government stemming from alleged billing for medically unnecessary testing and for pre-signing opioid prescriptions.

Prescriptions were found to be dispensed by a nurse practitioner while the doctor was out of the country.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dr. Kamal Kabakibou and The Center for Pain Management will jointly pay $3.5 million and agree to regular monitoring reports to the DEA for the next 5 years.
