The Dunwoody Police Department’s new public safety ambassadors are on the job, helping police focus on fighting crime while handling low-priority calls

Lieutenant Tim Fecht said that includes helping stranded motorists.

“Give them some gas, fix a flat tire, or doing a battery jump,” Fecht said.

He said the unit has already helped dozens of citizens.

The ambassadors don’t make arrests or hand out citations. Two positions are already filled with two more spots for hire.
