Fairburn police: Woman arrested for running over boyfriend

Fairburn police have released the name of the woman who is accused of intentionally running over and killing her boyfriend after an argument.

Sharees Dennard, 30, sits in the South Fulton Regional Jail and is charged with murder, Fairburn Police Sgt. Anthony Bazydlo told News/Talk WSB.

Police say Dennard and her boyfriend got into some sort of an argument at a home on Campbellton-Fairburn Road around 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

The argument apparently go so heated, the man jumped on Dennard’s car when she tried to drive away.

"Somehow or another the victim ended up either falling off the car or being thrown from it," Sgt. Bazydlo tells WSB. "And then we believe that the female perpetrator intentionally struck him with her car."

The body was said to be mangled, and police believe at least two other cars accidentally hit the man as he was lying in the road. The driver of one of those vehicles stopped.

"(It) sound like a car wreck, but it just wasn't (any) screeching tires," Tony McDaniel, who lives two doors down from the scene, told Channel 2 Action News.

Bazydlo says Dennard was found a short time later. Her car was hidden at a home about a mile and a half from the scene of the incident.

Along with Dennard's arrest, another person was booked and charged with obstruction of justice, police said.

Fairburn investigators are asking anyone who was driving in that area who thought they may have struck something in the road to call 770-964-1441.
