‘Armed and dangerous’ Forest Park murder suspect captured in Cobb County after 3 shot

FOREST PARK, Ga. — An ‘armed and dangerous’ man who police said shot three people in Forest Park, killing one, has been captured after a chase in Cobb County, police said.

Victor Demetrious Baymon, 33, was taken into custody on Friday night.

Police said Baymon walked into a tax filing business around 10 a.m. and shot two people, killing one of them. He then stole a car, wrecked it at a nearby apartment complex, then stole a Gray Dodge Avenger at gunpoint.

Police said he then drove to a home on Old Jonesboro Road and shot a construction worker who was working on a home.

Police said they believe the shootings were random.

The victims have not been identified. The surviving victims were in surgery, police said, but their conditions have not been released.

Baymon has a criminal history.

In 2017, Forest Park Police confirmed that Baymon was arrested and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Priscilla Colbert on April 10.

Police found Colbert face-down with a gunshot wound in a home in Stockbridge.

Deputies spotted Baymon driving a U-Haul truck behind a Golden Corral restaurant on April 11 and tried to pull him over.

Deputies said when they tried to pull him over, he rammed one of the patrol cars with the truck before being arrested.

He was charged with malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault of an officer and fleeing police. He was found not guilty on all but count nine, fleeing police, and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Baymon was released in 2022.

According to her obituary, Colbert was a military wife and mother who left behind children ages 7 and 2 at the time.
