Georgia election: Non-credible threats at GA polling sites may have come from Russia

FULTON COUNTY, GA — The Fulton County Elections office is seeking a court order to extend voting times by 30 minutes at two precincts after officials say five “non-credible” bomb threats were reported and two locations in Union City were evacuated.

In both cases, the locations in Union City briefly stopped voting due to non credible bomb threats.

The delay at both locations lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Regarding reports of threats at polling locations, Raffensperger said they were “of Russian origin.”

“The Russians are not our friends, anyone who thinks they are has been misled,” he said, before ending the briefing.

Police say a threat was called into Fulton County, but it was determined it was a polling place in Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett PD reported that the Mountain Park Aquatic Center was evacuated briefly and everyone was allowed back inside.

The FBI later released the statement:

“The FBI is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains. None of the threats have been determined to be credible thus far.”

Election integrity is among the FBI’s highest priorities. We will continue to work closely with our state and local law enforcement partners to respond to any threats to our elections and to protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote.”

Fulton County Schools released the following statement:

“There have been four total sites identified as having received a bomb threat through the 9-1-1 system, all of which have been deemed non-credible. Fulton County Schools PD is coordinating with local law enforcement.”

Fulton County Schools were scheduled to have a remote learning day.
