Fulton County sheriff required to pay $43K fine for violating ethics laws

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Fulton County Sheriff is required to pay a big fine for violating Georgia’s ethics laws.

The agreement that was reached with the Georgia Ethics Commission requires Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat to pay $43,000 in fines and penalties related to multiple ethics violations.

The commission found that Labat did not declare thousands in campaign spending and he did not disclose all of the businesses that his wife had ownership.
