GDOT hosts open house on plans to add westside express lanes along stretch of I-285

SMYRNA, GA — The Georgia Department of Transportation is offering what they’re calling “community conversations” to introduce plans for the expansion of the perimeter.

GDOT hosts an open house tonight on plans to add new westside express lanes along a 10-mile stretch of I-285. The updated plans include two barrier-separated lanes in each direction, starting near the I-75 interchange in Cobb County and stretching south of the I-20 interchange in Fulton County.

The public can review the project and take a survey at tonight’s meeting at the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center on MLK Jr. Drive in Atlanta.

A second meeting will be held tomorrow night at the Smyrna Community Center.
